Los Angeles Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue has made a big decision about his future.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Wednesday that Lue has signed a new long-term contract with the Clippers. The deal makes the 47-year-old one of the highest-paid coaches in the NBA.

Lue has a regular-season record of 184-134 over the past four seasons with the Clippers. The team lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the opening round of the playoffs this year, but Kawhi Leonard missed most of the series with a knee injury. Lue has had to deal with injuries to Leonard, Paul George and other key players throughout his tenure as the coach in L.A.
Lue has led the Clippers to the postseason in three of the past four years, including the franchise’s first ever Western Conference Finals appearance in 2021.
One reason that the Lue extension is so significant is that the coach was rumored to be a candidate for another high-profile NBA head coach job.
Lue first landed with the Clippers as an assistant coach in 2019 before getting the head coach job at the start of the 2020-21 season. He was the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers for three-plus seasons from 2015-2018. Lue won an NBA title with the LeBron James-led Cavs in 2016 and lost in the NBA Finals the next two seasons.
