Tyronn Lue taking leave of absence from Cavaliers due to health issues

Tyronn Lue

A difficult season for the Cleveland Cavaliers has only grown more difficult.

The team announced Monday that coach Tyronn Lue will take a leave of absence from coaching the team due to ongoing health issues.

“I have had chest pains and other troubling symptoms, compounded by a loss of sleep, throughout the year,” Lue said in an official statement. “Despite a battery of tests, there have been no conclusions as to what the exact issue is.”

Lue did not coach the second half of Sunday’s game due to illness, but it was not believed to be serious. Apparently, though, it was the latest in a pattern of issues for the Cavaliers coach. Associate coach Larry Drew will take over the team in his absence.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, this has been under consideration for several weeks, but apparently Sunday’s issues were the last straw.

Lue offered no timetable for his potential return. Hopefully everything is resolved quickly.
