A video showing what appears to be a heated moment between Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic and head coach JJ Redick has been making the rounds on social media.
In the video, Doncic was exiting the court after getting subbed out. Redick tried to grab Doncic’s hand, but the former NBA scoring champion ignored him, turning around and seemingly saying something to his coach as he made his way to his spot on the bench.
The two then had what looked like a serious conversation, with Doncic gesturing with his two hands. Redick then walked away, which Doncic didn’t seem to appreciate. Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt stood up and got in between to try to cool things down. You can watch the video of the entire moment here.
It is unclear what exactly it was that ticked off Doncic and Redick, but when it was all said and done, the Lakers got the result they wanted, snapping a two-game losing streak with a 129-101 victory over the Warriors at Chase Center in San Francisco, Calif.
The relationship between a superstar and his coach is among the most important in a team’s ecosystem, but it’s also not expected to be completely smooth. It’s unlikely to be the last time that Redick and Doncic will have a misunderstanding, but as long as they’re winning, it shouldn’t matter much for the Lakers.
