Former Lakers center Vlade Divac had a wonderful homecoming on Tuesday at Staples Center.
The 16-year NBA pro, who started and ended his career with the Lakers, got a chance to shoot the MGM Big Shot for charity between the third and fourth quarters of the Lakers-Warriors game. Inspired by Jerry West aka Mr. Clutch who was in attendance, the big man made it!
Divac’s half-court shot won $90,000 for charity, which he said would be split between his charity and the Lakers Youth Foundation.
The Staples Center crowd went nuts over the shot, and Divac went to celebrate with Jack Nicholson, who was sitting in his customary court-side seat.
Fun fact: Divac, who was a talented, all-around center and one-time All-Star, was traded for Kobe Bryant in 1996.
