Warriors sign a player very familiar to Steph Curry

The Golden State Warriors are doubling down on their serving of Curry this coming season.

The Warriors have reportedly come to terms on a contract with free agent guard Seth Curry. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Steph Curry’s younger brother has agreed to a one-year deal.

Seth Curry adds another lethal sharpshooter to a Warriors reserve list that already includes Buddy Hield. Seth’s scoring average dropped to 6.5 points per game last season across 68 games with the Charlotte Hornets. However, Seth’s three-point percentage rose to a career high of 45.6% in just under 16 minutes per game. With Steph averaging around 32 minutes per game last season, Golden State may opt to have a member of the Curry family on the floor at all times.

Head coach Steve Kerr could mask Seth’s defensive shortcomings by pairing him with either De’Anthony Melton or Gary Payton II. Kerr could also go with a supercharged offensive bench unit by trotting out both Seth Curry and Hield.

Steph and Seth Curry could not have had more different career paths in the NBA. While Steph Curry is all but certainly going to be a Warriors lifer, Seth Curry has played on nine different teams across his 11-year NBA career. Golden State will become his 10th.

The Warriors’ brass accomplished a great deal of business on Tuesday. Aside from landing Seth Curry, Golden State finally resolved its offseason stalemate with Jonathan Kuminga. The moves come just days after the Warriors added a proven veteran to their frontcourt rotation.
