X-rays on Russell Westbrook’s ankle are negative

Russell Westbrook

The Oklahoma City Thunder received some preliminary good news regarding Russell Westbrook’s ankle injury.

Westbrook left Monday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans in the third quarter after rolling his left ankle. Westbrook appeared to be in significant discomfort immediately after getting hurt.

Westbrook later had an X-ray on the injured ankle, which came back negative.

That signifies no break, which would have likely been the worst injury outcome.

The Thunder are now 5-4 after starting the season 0-4. They are an entirely different team without Westbrook. Westbrook missed the first two games of the season recovering from offseason knee surgery and the team went 0-2. They have gone 5-2 in games he’s played.
