Bob Arum believes Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao rematch will happen

There has been some recent buzz surrounding a possible rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, and Bob Arum is now perpetuating the latest rumors.

Mayweather was on hand over the weekend to watch Pacquiao defeat Jessie Vargas, and Pacquiao later revealed that he invited Mayweather to the fight. He also said “we will see” when asked if he wants a rematch against Mayweather. Arum, who is Pacquiao’s promoter, dodged questions about the fight everyone wants to see.

“As far as we’re concerned, Floyd is still retired and I respect that,” Arum said, according to The Telegraph. “Floyd had a number of things to say. He called and said he wanted to come to the fight.”

However, TMZ is reporting that Arum believes there is a good chance Mayweather-Pacquiao II will happen.

“Floyd called us and asked for tickets,” Arum told TMZ. “It’s a great sign. I’d love for the fight to happen. I’d make it 75 percent that it happens.”

Pacquiao wants the fight to happen, and why wouldn’t he? He has far less money than Mayweather, and a rematch would bring in an astronomical amount of cash. Plus, Mayweather hasn’t really stopped taking shots at Pacquiao since the two fought over a year ago.

Mayweather retired with a 49-0 record, and many people believe he would love to beat Pacquiao again and officially call it a career with a perfect 50-0 mark. Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach says he would love to see both fighters finish their careers by squaring off again.

“I hope Floyd comes looking for Manny, it’ s a fight we want,” Roach said. “Floyd has even been by in my gym (in Los Angeles) a couple of times. It would be a great way for both of them to finish their careers.”

Arum previously threw out an unrealistic idea for the rematch, but it sounds like he is getting more serious about it now. The situation is certainly worth watching.
