WBC women’s featherweight challenger Hannah Rapp was killed in an accident in Texas on Saturday.
Rapp, 26, died when she was struck by a car while riding her bicycle Saturday in Brazos County, Texas, via Andreas Hale of ESPN. The driver of the car was arrested and charged with manslaughter. According to TMZ, the driver was responsible for a road rage incident, and intentionally backed his car over Rapp.
Rapp had just challenged for the women’s featherweight championship in June. After an 8-0-1 start to her career, she received the right to face defending champion Tiara Brown, who defeated her in a unanimous decision.
In a comment on Instagram, Brown called Rapp “the best opponent I have faced so far in my pro career” and a “wonderful soul.”
An Indiana native, Rapp had embarked on her professional career in 2024. She was a track athlete in college before eventually relocating to College Station, Tex., where she worked as a fire and life safety inspector alongside her boxing career.
