George Russell started from pole and won the Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec, on Sunday, in a race that featured a crash at the end. Finishing behind Russell were Max Verstappen and Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

In somewhat of shock, neither McLaren drivers finished on the podium for the first time this season. Oscar Piastri finished 4th, while Lando Norris crashed out of the race on lap 67 on a failed attempt to overtake his teammate.

Quashing any sign of a power struggle between the two racers who are competing for the drivers’ championship, Norris immediately took responsibility by communicating on the team radio that it was his fault for trying to pass Piastri where no gap existed.

“No one to blame but myself, so I apologize to the whole team and to Oscar as well for attempting something probably a bit too silly. So yeah glad I didn’t ruin his race, and apologies to the team,” Norris said after the race.

Verstappen now trails Norris by 21 and Piastri by 43. Next up is Red Bull’s home race, the Austrian Grand Prix.
