Oscar Piastri cruised from pole position to win the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Sunday.
Despite talks that the new technical regulations at the Spanish Grand Prix might hamper McLaren’s race pace, the team look unaffected; Lando Norris finishing second behind Piastri.
Rounding out the top three was Charles Leclerc, who took advantage of a late safety car and pitted to grippier soft compound tires to overtake Max Verstappen.
In what would be considered a disaster for Red Bull, who looked to have masterfully executed a 3-stop strategy prior to the safety car, Verstappen dropped all the way from P3 to P10 after he was overtaken by Leclerc and then ordered to swap positions with George Russell. He was also assessed a 10-second penalty for intentionally driving into Russell.
With the European triple header now wrapped up, Red Bull, which clearly still lacked pace to the McLaren, will now have its work cut out to see if they are able unlock any additional pace before the Canadian Grand Prix.#F1 Para muchos el malo es Max pero luego que se descontrola el auto entrando en la recta es Leclerc que le pega yendo para su izquierda, y en curva uno es Russell que lo saca de pista.
