LSU fan who got hit in head by home run gave great interview

An LSU baseball fan during an interview

An LSU baseball fan was head in the head by a line drive on Tuesday night, and it would be an understatement to say he took it like a champ.

LSU third baseman Tommy White blasted a home run to give the Tigers a 9-0 lead in their win over Nicholls at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. A fan who was seated in the left field bleachers tried to catch the ball with a glove, but he could not make the play. The ball cranked him right in the head instead.

The fan, who was later identified as Cory, gave a great interview during the SEC Network broadcast. He joked that he must have had a hole in his glove. He also showed off the egg he had on the top of his head.

“I mean it was on a rope. You know, I’ve been carrying this glove with me for years and I was like, OK, now’s my time, I got one coming. Hole in the glove, man,” the fan said. “What can I say? It beaned off my dome and here we are. I got a nice little goose egg. … It don’t feel good. It felt like every bit of a 109-mph fastball, home run ball, yes.”

That could have ended much, much worse, so it was great to see the fan in good spirits afterward. At least he got a souvenir for his troubles.
