Ole Miss baserunner goes viral for stealing 3 bases on one pickoff
An Ole Miss player went viral for his heads up baserunning during his team’s 16-1 win over Alcorn State on Wednesday night.
Second baseman Peyton Chatagnier went 2-for-2 with 4 runs scored and 4 RBIs in the game. In the second inning, he walked with one out in a 3-1 game. He was caught going on a pickoff attempt but dove into second safely. Then Chatagnier saw an opening at third and stole that base, beating the catcher to the bag.
Since Alcorn State’s catcher tried to tag him out at third, you can guess what happened next: Chatagnier stole home since nobody was there to cover. Yes, he turned a pick off into three stolen bases and a run scored.

That was awesome and some great baserunning.
Ole Miss turned the game into a blowout to improve to 11-1. Chatagnier also hit a home run in the game.
MLB teams have really cut down on stolen bases since determining they were low reward plays. But this video showed just how exciting they can be. The video also helps explain why Alcorn State’s baseball team is 0-8.
