Arizona coach consoles heartbroken TCU star after close game
Arizona pulled out a close game against TCU in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, and their coach tried to be as gracious as possible.
Wildcats coach Tommy Lloyd was seen consoling Eddie Lampkin after the Wildcats’ 85-80 overtime win over the Horned Frogs. Lampkin, a sophomore center, was a monster in TCU’s losing effort, with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Lloyd made sure to put Lampkin’s feelings ahead of the coach’s desire to celebrate the win.

That was a cool gesture, and similar to what we saw on Saturday from Juwan Howard.
TCU had Arizona on the ropes and led for much of the second half. They even led 75-72 after a Lampkin layup with 37 seconds left. That’s why losing in OT was so heartbreaking.
Arizona will now face Houston in the Sweet 16, while TCU’s season comes to an end.
