Bobby Knight to campaign with Donald Trump in Indiana

Bob Knight

Donald Trump will have a secret weapon accompanying him on the campaign trail in Indiana on Wednesday: former Hoosiers head coach Bobby Knight.

A press release sent out on Monday announced that the former Indiana basketball coach would campaign for Trump:

Trump had been talking over the weekend about receiving an endorsement from the iconic coach, and he is getting what he wanted.

“Tough, strong, smart. I would like to get that for Indiana, I’ll tell you what. To me, that would be a great endorsement,” Trump said over the weekend.

Knight has already made his stance on the presidential election known. He has expressed support for Trump in the past and recently bashed Hillary Clinton.

“I damn sure don’t want to be listening to Hillary (Clinton) for the next four years,” Knight said in February.

Knight, who coached Indiana from 1971-2000 and won three championships with the program, is 75 and has not coached since 2008. Though crazy stories about him continue to emerge, Knight is still an influential figure in Indiana, so the support he will be giving Trump is significant ahead of the Indiana primary on May 3.
