There was no Dean Wade magic at halftime for Kansas State on Saturday.
CBS confirmed that Wade would not play in the second half of the Wildcats’ Elite Eight game against Loyola Chicago. The network reported that Kansas State head coach Bruce Weber decided not to push Wade to play so as to protect his long-term health.
Wade missed Kansas State’s first two NCAA Tournament games due to a stress fracture in his foot. He did play eight minutes in the win over Kentucky on Thursday, but the Wildcats decided to shelve him against the Ramblers. The junior forward was seen in a walking boot prior to the game.

Wade was Kansas State’s leading scorer this season, with an average of 16.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Kansas State badly missed him and his go-to scoring abilities against Loyola Chicago.
