TCU head basketball coach Jamie Dixon on Monday responded to rumors linking him to the UCLA job.
Dixon was reported by the Los Angeles Times as one of two top targets for the Bruins’ vacancy. He was asked about the rumor ahead of Tuesday’s NIT semifinal game against Texas and offered a response.
“I don’t talk about rumors, speculation … no part of it,” Dixon told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I don’t think it’s good for anyone involved. I stay consistent in that regard.”
That’s a fair response from Dixon, but what’s notable is that he did not issue an outright denial.
The 53-year-old would be a natural fit at UCLA. He is from Southern California and was a Ben Howland protege. One potential hurdle is that he reportedly has a hefty buyout.
