During the NBA’s all-star weekend, Zach LaVine left the crowd at Barclays Center stunned with an impressive array of dunks to win the slam dunk contest. For his first dunk, the Timberwolves rookie went between his legs and earned a perfect score of 50 for his efforts.
On Saturday, Jarell Martin did a dunk of the between-the-legs variety as well. However, his came during LSU’s 70-63 win over Florida.
If you’re going to try that during a game, you absolutely have to convert it, which Martin obviously did. I can only imagine what would’ve happened had the attempt missed. Thankfully, Martin won’t have to worry about that.
Martin was asked after the game when he knew he was going to try the dunk. He replied, “When I got control of the ball I was like ‘Okay, I can do something special now.'” Martin also said he was told by his coach at halftime “This isn’t a dunking competition” so we can safely rule out anything similar for the remainder of the season.
Fortunately, we were able to see it once.
