Report: Kevin Keatts hired by NC State
NC State reportedly has found a replacement for head coach Mark Gottfried.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, NC State has agreed to a deal with Kevin Keatts, who just completed his third season at UNC-Wilmington.
NC State had been dissatisfied with Gottfried, who initially improved the program upon being hired, taking the Wolfpack to the NCAA Tournament in his first four years. But the team was under .500 last season and this one, leading the team to say he would be fired at the end of the season.
They moved quickly with the hiring of Keatts, whose Seahawks lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday.
UNC-Wilmington had a losing record for six straight seasons prior to Keatts taking over. He turned things around with a winning record in his first season, and then took UNCW to the tournament in consecutive seasons.
