Lawrence Police Twitter account hilarious during Kansas loss
The Lawrence Police Department’s Twitter account remains a must-follow during Jayhawks basketball season. They even made the Jayhawks’ blowout loss to Villanova in the Final Four on Saturday night somewhat bearable.
First, the Lawrence Police account began with an optimistic tone about being ready to give out high-fives.
We've got over 200 officers ready to go out and give high fives. Let's do this Jayhawks! Beat Nova! #RCJH pic.twitter.com/7BBD9bAT1P

And then the game started. Villanova got out to an early lead, which the police termed a “disturbance.”
Alright Jayhawk fans, just like they teach us in the academy. Already en route to our first disturbance. pic.twitter.com/ZMFkA0G1ue

Then they tried to get the rally caps — or shirts — going.
An order from the Lawrence Police Department- Everybody change your shirt at halftime. The one you're wearing isn't lucky.

No, we will not be responding to any "vicious animal" calls in San Antonio. Wildcats can be tamed.

.@SATXPolice are buzzsaws an illegal weapon in Texas? Asking for a friend.

Then they joked about how hot the Wildcats were shooting the ball.
We've deployed our officers out to Massachusetts Street. Roughly one officer for every 3 pointer Nova has hit, soooo about 200.

We were hoping to high five tonight, but if you need a hug from an officer downtown tonight, make sure you ask first.

They still managed to part with some funny and optimistic tweets:
OK KU fans, walk out with your heads held high and know we'll be high fiving on Mass Street again next year. It's Lawrence, Kansas and that's what we do. #GrieveSafely #DriveSober

As you all walk dejectedly around Massachusetts Street, if you feel the need to destroy something, rip down one of the neon yellow paper no parking signs and put it in a trash can. Thanks bunches XOXO

Villanova shot 55.4 percent in the game, including 45 percent of their threes. When they’re shooting the ball like the Golden State Warriors, there isn’t a whole lot you can do to stop them.
The Lawrence Police Twitter account began the tournament on a funny note and ended it the same way.
