The Kentucky Wildcats were blown out during Sunday’s NCAA Tournament game against Iowa State, and one remarkable stat summed everything up.
The Cyclones beat Kentucky 82-63 at Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mo. on Sunday. Iowa State outscored the Wildcats 51-33 in the second half, but one stat summed up Kentucky’s problems.
The Wildcats simply could not hold onto the ball. They turned the ball over 20 times as a team, and had already blown past their season high of 15 before the midway mark of the second half.
Kentucky has committed a season-high 18 turnovers. There is still 10:44 left in this game.

Kentucky’s turnovers came in every way possible. At one point, they even took a five-second violation on an inbounds play, leaving coach Mark Pope baffled as to what had happened to his team.

They just don’t have it 🙄🙄 pic.twitter.com/LJFN86FSON
Iowa State is an elite defensive team, but Kentucky looked utterly clueless for large parts of Sunday’s game. A second round exit is well below the standards of the program, and Pope will be facing even more pressure after what will be seen as a major underachievement.
