Tae Davis delivered the highlight, but it wasn’t enough for Oklahoma on Friday night.
The SEC Tournament Quarterfinal in Nashville saw Oklahoma fall just short in a hard-fought 82-79 loss to No. 17 Arkansas.
Oklahoma forward Tae Davis delivered a strong performance with 17 points (7-14 FG, including a key three-pointer late), three rebounds, and two assists in 27 minutes, highlighted by an explosive highlight-reel slam dunk in transition that energized the Sooners and gained widespread attention on social media.
Despite trailing 37-39 at halftime, Oklahoma battled back in the second half, with Davis contributing crucial scoring, including a three-pointer with 1:33 remaining and two free throws at 53.8 seconds to cut the deficit to 77-75.
Teammates Nijel Pack led with 19 points, Derrion Reid added 17, and Mohamed Wague chipped in 13 as the Sooners held advantages in field goal percentage efficiency in stretches but couldn’t overcome Arkansas’ late surge.
Arkansas pulled ahead for good with key plays, led by Darius Acuff Jr.’s 37 points.
Oklahoma’s athletic effort, capped by Davis’ poster-worthy dunk, made the contest memorable in the competitive SEC clash.
