Report: Patrick Ewing serious candidate for Georgetown job
The Georgetown Hoyas appear to be treating Patrick Ewing as a serious candidate for their head coaching position.
According to Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports, Ewing is a “major candidate” for the job and has been interviewed multiple times. The current Charlotte Hornets assistant has been gathering information about what it’s like to coach in the Big East.
Another source added that Ewing is the preferred choice of John Thompson Jr., who coached the star center and his team to an NCAA title in 1984.
It sounds like the Georgetown opening has been enough to make Ewing reconsider his career priorities. This would still be a risk, though, as Ewing has no formal head coaching experience, and even his experience as an assistant has come in the NBA.
