Mercer senior guard Kevin Canevari appeared in his first ever NCAA Tournament game on Friday, and Duke’s Quinn Cook did not exactly extend a warm welcome. Canevari got his ankles shattered less than 10 minutes into the first half.
Oftentimes when a player gets his ankles broken, it is excusable and happens among a sea of other players. It can be tough to tell if a player fell because of an opponent’s crossover or if he simply got tangled up with a teammate/opponent. Such was not the case with Canevari, who was out near half court and all alone when Cook did him dirty.
He’ll be hearing about that one for a while.
