It wouldn’t be March Madness if a UConn player wasn’t hitting a shot the buzzer to give his team a victory. On Friday, it was Ryan Boatright’s turn.
With UCONN and Cincinnati tied at 54 with time running out in regulation, Boatright channeled his inner Kemba Walker and lost Octavius Ellis to give himself the space he needed to hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer to give the Huskies the win in the American Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
Boatright was game’s top scorer with 18 points and the win keeps the NCAA Tournament hopes alive for the defending national champions. UConn will face Tulsa on Saturday for a chance to advance to the AAC Tournament final.
