Aaron Rodgers would be proud. After winning both the West Coast Conference regular season and tournament titles, St. Mary’s is headed to the dance. Following a highly-successful season, they are also headed there with a solid No. 7 seed a manageable first game against Purdue. As they hope to become 2012’s March Madness Cinderella story, the Gaels celebrated in style on Selection Sunday. As you can see from the photo above that Mocksession passed along, St. Mary’s broke out the championship belt t-shirts while they watched the brackets unfold.
Unlike Steve Novak who has completely highjacked the championship belt celebration after he hits clutch three-pointers, St. Mary’s did a tremendous job of adding an original flare. Rodgers did not invent the championship belt — he just perfected the celebration. It’s nice to see one of the mid-majors has their swag priorities in order as they prepare for The Dance.
