TCU on Wednesday evoked the spirit of the 1992 Duke men’s basketball team in their win over Oklahoma State at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Cowboys led the Horned Frogs 71-70 when OSU senior guard Brandon Newman drew a foul for two free throws with 3.2 seconds left. Newman missed his first attempt and made the second.
With no timeouts remaining, TCU had to inbound from the opposite baseline. TCU freshman Jace Posey ran down the baseline and threw the ball like a quarterback going for a Hail Mary. But Posey put too much juice on the pass intended for forward Micah Robinson. All Robinson could do was tip the ball, which ended up in the hands of TCU guard Vasean Allette. The sophomore rattled in a game-winning three and sent the home crowd into a frenzy.

Duke legends Christian Laettner and Grant Hill will surely be smiling when they see the replay of this one.
Here’s another angle of the play.

Allette gathered the ball, turned around, and launched a shot all in one motion. It’s the kind of move players do in practice all the time, just not with a game on the line off a full-court tipped pass.
The TCU star finished with a team-high 16 points on 7/18 shooting. He had gone 0/3 from three-point range until the dying seconds of the 73-72 win.
