This was UMBC’s way of tipping their cap to Virginia on the win.
Of course, UMBC was the school that knocked Virginia out of the tournament last year, making history by becoming the first 16 seed ever to eliminate a one seed. The 2018 upset win led to questions about whether Virginia and Tony Bennett could win in March. The Hoos have answered those questions by reaching the Final Four this year. And guess what? They still have a good shot at going even farther in the Tournament.
