UNC academic scandal cost them top recruit Brandon Ingram
Duke secured the top recruiting class in the country on Monday when five-star power forward Brandon Ingram committed to the reigning national champs. Ingram was originally planning to go to North Carolina. What caused him to change his mind? Was it the fact that Coach K just won another national championship? Apparently not.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, Ingram was turned off by the academic fraud investigation at UNC.
One source to ESPN on Brandon Ingram choosing Duke over UNC: "The academic fraud investigation is killing them now in recruiting."

Fellow ESPN insider Jeff Borzello added that Ingram admitted at the McDonald’s All-American game that he would have likely committed to UNC last fall if there were no NCAA issues.
It has to hurt Roy Williams and company that they lost a top recruit to their biggest rival. And it’s not as if Duke had no off-court issues last year, but the academic scandal seems to get worse by the day. Even former UNC players have admitted they kept their grades up without ever going to class. There was bound to be a ripple effect.
