USF coach: Houston is a Final Four team
The Houston Cougars are a college basketball team seemingly flying under the radar despite their success this season. One rival coach thinks they are a Final Four team.
Brian Gregory’s USF squad lost 71-59 to Houston on Saturday — a game they trailed by double-digits for almost the entire second half. After the game, Gregory praised Houston as a Final Four-type team.

Houston is now 26-1 following their win and holds a 1.5 game lead over Cincinnati for first in the American Athletic Conference. The problem for Houston is their schedule has been weak — their best wins have come over LSU and Cincinnati, while they’ve lost at Temple. The AAC is weak this year, and Houston’s non-conference games haven’t made up for it. The result is they’re ranked just No. 16 by Ken Pom and 9/8 by the polls.
We’ll see if Gregory’s feelings on Houston turn out to be true when March Madness begins.
