One of UCLA’s highest-rated recruits is leaving the program after two seasons with the Bruins.

Linebacker Jaelan Phillips left UCLA in the fall quarter, according to a report from Bruin Report Online’s Tracy Pierson.

Phillips, a 5-star recruit coming out of high school, has played in just 10 games over the past two seasons due to multiple injuries. He amassed 41 tackles and 4.5 sacks in those games.

In October, Phillips opened up on social media about the serious surgery and recovery time he faced from injuries related to being hit by a car.

According to Pierson, Phillips is not medically retiring from football, though his injuries are a factor in his move. If Phillips decides to continue playing football, he will likely transfer to a school that has a major for his area of interest – music production and technology.

Phillips originally chose UCLA over Alabama, Arizona and Arizona State, among other schools.
