Brian Kelly is still talking about playing two quarterbacks even though it seems obvious that Ian Book is the guy.
Notre Dame put up 56 points in a win over Wake Forest last weekend, with Book accounting for five touchdowns at quarterback. Kelly had said prior to the game that he expected to play both Book and Brandon Wimbush, but only Book saw action because there was no reason to take him out.
Considering the team scored only 24, 24, and 22 points under Wimbush and they exploded for 56 with Book at QB, it would seem that the junior has the starting job locked up. But Kelly is still insisting he is ready to play both quarterbacks for the Fighting Irish’s game against Stanford on Saturday.
Brian Kelly says he’s "prepared both quarterbacks and they’re both ready to play and it’s in our best interest to have them both ready” when asked about the starting quarterback on Saturday.

Perhaps the situation will call for Wimbush to see some snaps, but if Book continues to play like he did against Wake Forest, he’s not losing the job.
