The Tennessee Vols may have come away with a on Saturday, but you wouldn’t have been able to tell that based on Butch Jones’ postgame comments.
Tennessee barely beat UMass 17-13 at home. Keep in mind that UMass is 0-5 and had greater margins of defeat against Temple and Old Dominion. That’s why Jones was so frustrated after watching his team fail to score in two of the game’s four quarters.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about getting the victory, but the performance was just flat-out unacceptable,” Jones said Saturday, via SEC Country’s Mike Griffith. “We’ll get back to work tonight and we’ll work to correct it, correct our deficiencies.

“It starts, first and foremost, with me, and it is unacceptable.”
Tennessee’s offense lacked any sort of production in the game. They had just 319 total yards compared to 281 for the Minutemen. The Vols only scored three points in the second half and hardly moved the ball after halftime.
Tennessee needs to turn things around otherwise next weekend’s game at home against Georgia could get ugly.
