BYU, Memphis fight after Miami Beach Bowl

A huge fight broke out between BYU and Memphis at the end of the Miami Beach Bowl.

Memphis won the game 55-48 in double OT after getting an interception to seal the victory.

It appears the fight began with BYU’s No. 56 Tejan Koroma getting in a scrap with Memphis’ No. 97, Martin Ifedi.

Video showed Koroma bumping Ifedi, with Ifedi pushing Koroma in the head in response. As Ifedi and Koroma were getting into it, No. 53 Leonard Pegues of Memphis and No. 68 Chase Johnson went after Koroma in defense of their teammate. Pegues threw a punch and Johnson swung his helmet at Koroma.

As Koroma and Ifedi hit the ground, others jumped on top and jumped in.

The most egregious act may have come from BYU sophomore DB Kai Nacua, who was shown punching a Memphis player in the back of the head.

ESPN’s announcers say some Memphis players ran over to celebrate right in front of the BYU sideline, which likely upset some Cougars players, too.

In addition to Nacua, Pegues was doing a lot of punching, kicking and shoving and looked like one of the dirtiest players involved in the brawl.
