Carson Beck turned a few heads on Saturday when he heaped some blame on his teammates after Miami’s upset loss against Louisville at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.
The Hurricanes entered the matchup as two-touchdown favorites over a Cardinals team fresh off a loss against Virginia. But it was Louisville that raced out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, with Miami trying to play catch-up the rest of the way.
It didn’t help that Beck had one of the sloppiest games of his career, capped off by a backbreaking mistake in the closing minute.
Facing 1st-and-10 at Louisville’s 31, Beck fired a pass that was well behind tight end Elija Lofton. Cardinals linebacker TJ Capers intercepted Beck’s quick-fire throw.

Louisville held on for a 24-21 win over Miami.
After the game, Beck was asked about the critical interception that swung the game. The 22-year-old senior claimed there was a “miscommunication” during the play, then outed his teammates for running the “wrong play.”
“We have a perfect play for it,” Beck said. “We just had a miscommunication with the route and what we were doing. It’s just, ran the route wrong, and I went to go throw it because we’re hot off of pressure.
“Again, [Louisville linebacker TJ Capers] made a good play on it. But it definitely didn’t help that we ran the wrong play.”
I’m sorry but as a franchise QB you simply throw your guys under the bus like this … pic.twitter.com/SAzHr72Ets

After throwing just three interceptions over his first five games, Beck was picked off four times in Saturday’s contest. He finished the game 25/35 on passes for 271 yards with four interceptions.
Beck may very well be speaking the truth. Lofton and some of his teammates may have messed up on that final play. But it’s probably not the greatest thing to hear when you’re Beck’s teammate after the QB made multiple miscues himself throughout the game.
