Chris Fowler shares potential new solution to play college football season
Many are already thinking ahead to what the coronavirus pandemic could mean for college football season, with various proposals for if the campaign cannot start normally.
These discussions are happening at the highest levels of the sport, and multiple scenarios are being presented. ESPN’s Chris Fowler cited a new possibility in an Instagram video based on what he called “informed speculation.”
Fowler believes there will be a season, but offered up one previously unreported scenario: a season that begins next February and is played during the spring.
This would be a tough one. It’s a long way off, and teams that play in the northern part of the country would still be dealing with winter at that point. It sounds like a last-ditch scenario. It would be preferable to canceling the season, which has also been suggested as a possibility, but it’s just too soon to know what’s realistic.
