DeAndre Hopkins’ NFL career appears to be over, or at the very least, it is being put on pause.
Hopkins is joining Georgia Tech’s offensive staff, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. The veteran wide receiver had already been in Atlanta during the week visiting with the team.
Georgia Tech is currently expected to add former NFL star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins as a member of its offensive staff, sources tell me and @chris_hummer.

Hopkins has no history with the Yellow Jackets, having gone to a rival ACC school at Clemson. However, Georgia Tech offensive coordinator George Godsey was Hopkins’ offensive coordinator with the Houston Texans for two NFL seasons, and was also part of the Baltimore Ravens’ staff last year when Hopkins was a part of the team.
While Hopkins had hoped to play in the NFL this season, he seemed to accept that was not going to happen. He was spotted at camp with an NFL team earlier in the week in a coaching role as well.
The 34-year-old is certainly still young enough to play. He spent last season with the Ravens, but only caught 22 passes for 330 yards and two touchdowns. He suggested that the Ravens did not utilize him enough, and it’s possible he would rather just go into coaching rather than play a bit part role in someone’s offense in 2026.
