D’Eriq King may be staying with the Houston Cougars after all.
After King’s father indicated that the quarterback intended to transfer, Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle reported that King would redshirt for the rest of the 2019 season and remain with Houston for 2020.

It’s bizarre turn of events. Word from King’s own father earlier in the day was that the quarterback intended to leave Houston. Word from the school is very different. What we definitely know is that King will not play again in 2019 in order to preserve his eligibility for one more season. Coming back next season is odd, but perhaps he believes he’ll be playing in a more competitive environment in a system he’s become more accustomed to.
