Duke Johnson injury reportedly a broken ankle
Miami Hurricanes star running back Duke Johnson left Saturday’s 42-14 loss to Florida State with a leg injury after being stuffed on a fourth down play in the third quarter. The word is that he has a broken ankle and will be out for the season.
Miami Herald Hurricanes reporter Susan Miller Degnan first reported the news and says Johnson is scheduled to have surgery next week. Johnson had a cast on his right leg after the game and was on crutches:

Johnson was injured after being stopped on a 4th-and-2 from the FSU 26 late in the third quarter. His right leg was planted underneath him as he got tackled. You can see how awkward the positioning was in the photo below:
The sophomore back had 97 yards on 23 carries in the loss. He entered the game with 823 yards and 6 touchdowns on 122 carries for the season. Johnson was an absolute wrecking crew in the team’s previous game, going for 168 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries against Wake Forest. His loss will hurt the Canes, but hopefully he’ll come back fine next year.
