Ex-Miami QB Jarren Williams transferring to junior college

Miami Hurricanes

Former Miami Hurricanes quarterback Jarren Williams has found his transfer destination.

Williams is transferring to Garden City Community College in Kansas, Juco Football Forer reported on Twitter.

Williams was a highly-touted recruit coming out of high school in Georgia. He was originally committed to Kentucky but switched to Miami. Williams redshirted during the 2018 season with the Hurricanes but saw significant action as the starter last season under new head coach Manny Diaz and offensive coordinator Dan Enos. He beat out N’Kosi Perry and Tate Martell.

Williams threw for 6 touchdowns in a win over Louisville last season and some nice stats on the surface — 2,187 yards, 19 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. However, he was downright dreadful in some games, like when he went 4/7 with 3 interceptions against Virginia Tech and 9/20 for 94 yards during the team’s embarrassing shutout bowl loss to Louisiana Tech.

Williams acknowledged after the bowl game that the team was just going through the motions. Miami reportedly didn’t mind losing him as a transfer, which made sense since they landed Houston’s D’Eriq King.

By going to a junior college, Williams will be able to play this fall rather than sit out had he transferred to another FBS school.
