Florida CB Loucheiz Purifoy reportedly suspended for failed drug test
Loucheiz Purifoy is one of six Florida Gators suspended for the team’s opening game on Saturday against Toledo, according to reports.
On Wednesday, Gators head coach Will Muschamp said that starting linebacker Antonio Morrison would be the only player suspended for the game. He apparently changed his mind.
In addition to Purifoy and Morrison, defensive tackles Darious Cummings and Jay-nard Bostwick, wide receiver Latroy Pittman and offensive lineman Quinteze Williams have been suspended for the game for a violation of team rules.
Purifoy and Pittman failed drug tests, according to the Palm Beach Post. Purifoy was expected to contribute on offense and special teams in addition to being one of the top cornerbacks in the country.
The Gators are favored by 23 points in the game.
