Jeremy Pruitt has hilarious quote about Tennessee’s chances of beating Alabama
Alabama is once again the top-ranked team in college football, while Tennessee continues to rebuild and is struggling to remain afloat in the SEC. Volunteers head coach Jeremy Pruitt knows his team has virtually no chance at pulling off a historic upset on Saturday, but he has a plan he thinks might help.
Never willingly give Bama the ball.
While speaking with the media on Monday, Pruitt said he knows of a high school team in Arkansas that goes for it every time on 4th down and tries an onside kick on every kickoff opportunity. He joked that he might have Tennessee give that a shot in Tuscaloosa.
#Vols coach Jeremy Pruitt on his game plan for this week: There’s a high school team in Arkansas that does an onside kick for every kickoff and never punts. If we could do that and never give Alabama the football this week, that would be a great game plan.

The Vols are coming off a decent win against Mississippi State, but they lost to Georgia and Florida before that by a combined score of 77-17. Alabama is probably better than both Georgia and Florida, and Tennessee is a 35-point underdog for Saturday’s game. It could be a very, very long night.
Pruitt is a fiery coach who is trying to lead a turnaround, and he made it clear recently that he is taking small victories any way he can get them. Covering the 35-point spread against Alabama would probably be another one of those.
