Though his reputation certainly took a hit at Florida, this is an excellent get for the Chippewas. He’s a career 22-12 and has two 10-win seasons to his name, including one at Colorado State. He spent 2018 as wide receivers coach at Michigan.
This move had been in the rumor mill for several days. If McElwain can replicate his program-building success from Colorado State at Central Michigan, the Chippewas will be thrilled, and McElwain could put himself in line for a second change at a major program.
