Joe Burrow delivered the knockout punch to Texas and then trolled Longhorns fans with a sarcastic wave.
Burrow’s LSU Tigers got the ball following a Texas field goal to make it 37-31 with just under four minutes left. Facing a 3rd-and-17 from their 39 with 2:27 left, Burrow threw a 61-yard touchdown pass to Justin Jefferson that iced the game.

Texas came back and scored a touchdown to make it 45-38 but left very little time on the clock for a second score to tie it. LSU wound up winning 45-38 and is now 2-0. Their schedule is pretty manageable the next three games before they start to get into the real meat of their SEC schedule. They look very good, but that four-game stretch of Florida, at Mississippi State, Auburn, and at Alabama is sure to cause problems.
These were two of the top teams in the country playing a very competitive game. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Longhorns lost just one or no more games the rest of the season.
