Joe Mixon suspended for incident with parking attendant
Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon is suspended for Thursday’s game against Iowa State, the school announced Tuesday, and now we know why.
According to The Oklahoman, Mixon had an incident with a parking attendant on campus Tuesday morning.
Mixon’s attorney says the sophomore running back received a parking ticket and ripped it up.
“He was frustrated, as most of us are when we get a ticket,” Mixon’s attorney told The Oklahoman. “He tore the ticket up in front of the parking attendant, and threw it on the ground.”
“I regret that I did not respond appropriately to parking attendants and understand and accept the consequences,” Mixon said in a statement shared by the school.
Mixon is in the middle of a big season for the 6-2 Sooners, as he’s posted a combined 1,170 yards and nine touchdowns. His absence on Thursday means Oklahoma will likely rely on freshman Abdul Adams and potentially walk-on Devin Montgomery.
This is not the first time Mixon’s behavior has led to a suspension. The running back was suspended all of the 2014 season for punching a female student at a bar.
