Alabama lost to Michigan in the Rose Bowl on Monday, and that outcome seemed to be validation for Florida State.

Several current and former Seminoles, plus their fans, reacted via social media to watching the team that replaced them in the College Football Playoff lose in the semifinals.

Jordan Travis, who was the Seminoles’ star quarterback before suffering a horrible leg injury, posted a melting face emoji after Alabama lost 27-20 in overtime.

FSU defensive back Jarrian Jones said the game was the difference between a team that earned a spot in the Rose Bowl and one that had been given the spot.

Though the Seminoles themselves got waxed 63-3 in their Orange Bowl game against Georgia, that didn’t matter to them. Their season ended in their mind when they got robbed by the CFP selection committee, which put a 1-loss Alabama team into the semifinal instead of their 13-0 ACC championship-winning team.

The committee’s decision produced a great game between Alabama and Michigan. We’ll never know how Florida State would have fared in the game.
