Kent State RB Dri Archer had a ridiculous touchdown run (Video)

We don’t usually post videos of touchdown runs here on LBS, much less ones that happened a few days ago, so you know it has to be really, really special to merit our attention. And that’s how I would describe the 74-yard touchdown run by Kent State running back Dri Archer on Saturday.

Archer, a junior running back from Florida, took an inside handoff from the shotgun formation and ran toward the left sideline during the fourth quarter of his team’s game against Bowling Green. He ran into a pileup that included three Bowling Green defenders, and somehow managed to avoid being tackled. He cut all the way across the field, avoided another tackle, and then cut back up the field and darted into the end zone to complete the long run.

Archer finished with 241 yards and two touchdowns on just 17 carries. This is his first year starting, and he has capitalized by putting up ridiculous stats.

Archer has rushed for 1,284 yards and 14 touchdowns, and he has 28 catches for 400 yards and four more touchdowns. As if that’s not enough, Archer leads the country with 37.3 yards per kickoff return, and is tied for the nation’s lead with three kickoff returns for a touchdown. His emergence is one of the biggest reasons Kent State is 10-1 and has cracked the top 25 rankings this season.

For more on Archer, you can read this Yahoo! Sports feature on him, which called him “one of college football’s most exciting players.”
