Kentucky QB Terry Wilson out for the season with knee injury?

Terry Wilson

Kentucky Wildcats starting quarterback Terry Wilson may be out for the season with an injury based on what Mark Stoops said in his postgame handshake.

Wilson was taken down on a nasty horsecollar tackle at the end of the third quarter against Eastern Michigan.

Wilson was carted off the field and replaced by junior Sawyer Smith.

Even though his Wildcats were up 31-14 with a few minutes left, Stoops had Smith throwing the ball. They threw a touchdown with a minute left to go up 38-14.

In his postgame handshake, Stoops explained that he was passing the ball late to get Smith some work because his guy (presumably Wilson) was out for the season.

“I’ll say this, it didn’t look good,” Stoops said of Wilson’s injury after the game. “Never good when a guy gets carted off. But they won’t know for sure until the MRI.”

Smith is a graduate transfer from Troy and passed for 14 touchdowns and six interceptions last season.
