Lane Kiffin and Kirby Smart are on good terms, but you would not necessarily know it based on what Kiffin had to say about Smart on Monday.
Kiffin and Smart are both known for being energetic on the sidelines, which prompted a question to Kiffin about which of them burns more calories during games. Kiffin did not miss the opportunity to take a swipe at Smart’s weight.
“I walked by the TV and saw his press conference today. He didn’t look like he’s burned too many calories,” Kiffin said.

Kiffin made clear that the comment was not personal. In the same press conference, he referred to Smart as “the best coach in college football” at the moment.
Kiffin and Smart worked together on Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama and are known to be friends. Kiffin has even trolled him before, so this is not going to spark any controversies.
Ole Miss enters Saturday’s game at Georgia 6-0, while the Bulldogs are 5-1 with a lone loss to Alabama. The contest will likely have a major impact on the College Football Playoff in terms of seeding and selection, so the joking mood will probably wear off quite quickly once the game gets closer.
