Players have been known to stoke the rivalry between Florida State and Miami, but things got heated on Wednesday thanks to an unlikely source.
Miami head coach Mark Richt went on Twitter to correct the record after a Seminoles fan website wrote an article suggesting the Hurricanes coach was trying to slight FSU running back Dalvin Cook. Here are the tweets:
I'm not sure who David Visser is with Tomahawk Nation but he has taken a small piece of my quote on Dalvin Cook out of context.

I said he was "like a lot of backs" in the SEC. It was a compliment to his physical running style.

Visser wrote an article on Tomahawk Nation with the title, “Miami coach Mark Richt downplaying FSU’s Dalvin Cook?”
Here’s what Visser said:
“[Richt] recently spoke about Cook, saying that Cook is ‘like a lot of backs,’ and later implying that his production is merely a result of Florida State’s dedication to the run game.”
If you watch video of the comments, it’s clear that the “like a lot of backs” remark was only one small part of Richt’s entire comments. Richt actually said Cook was “an impressive guy.”

FSU has won six straight over Miami in the rivalry, but this year the ‘Canes enter the game 4-0 and FSU 3-2, so it will be Miami’s best chance at a win in quite a few years.
