Look: Maryland crowd for first post-Durkin game is very sparse
It’s been a very tumultuous week for the Maryland football program, but it’s fair to say a groundswell of support from the fanbase did not materialize in the form of attendance on Saturday.
As the Terrapins kicked off their noon game against the Michigan State Spartans, there were large, empty spaces in the stands, and it didn’t appear that there was a lot of interest from the fans in College Park.

Maryland probably would have expected better. They’re 5-3, and a win over the Spartans would make them bowl eligible despite all the issues that have surrounded the program this season. Coach D.J. Durkin was reinstated and then fired a day later amid massive outcry from the public, but once game time came, the Terps just haven’t really captured the area’s attention, it seems.
